3. Let’s Talk About Race Equality (Debating White Privilege, Micro-Aggressions, Allyship & Active Bystanders)

   The 2020 Black Lives Matter movement, reignited conversations on the subject of race equality, across the globe - The need for positive culture change was at the forefront of those discussions. This workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to address race equality at LJMU and understand the importance of ally-ship.

4. Chief Constable annual lecture

   A packed theatre listened to Sir Jon Murphy QPM deliver his third state of the city lecture, which this year focused on the question, 'Is there a future for neighbourhood policing?' The event was organised by the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies.

5. LJMU lecturer and terrorism expert advises Police on anti-terror policies

   LJMU is proving to be a pioneering voice in shaping police policy around terrorism and protecting young people from radicalisation in the region. Dr David Lowe, senior lecturer at the School of Law and leading expert on counter-terrorism has been working closely with Merseyside Police HQ, presenting at their recent Prevent Seminar, while assisting with guidance on law and policy issues more generally.

6. Honorary Fellow: Darren Henley

   Darren Henley OBE received an Honorary Fellowship from LJMU on Friday 28 November in recognition of his outstanding contribution to arts and culture.

7. Honour Based Abuse, Female Genital Mutilation and Forced Marriage conference held in partnership with Savera UK 

   LJMU equality and diversity team worked in partnership with SaveraUK to host an inspiring HBA, FGM and FM event in November 2019.

8. Scholarships for people of colour on policing course

   Opportunities for people of colour in specialist policing roles including counter-terrorism are being made available thanks to a partnership involving Liverpool John Moores University.

9. Screen School student hailed at international film festival

   A Screen School student has won first prize at the 2019 Pesaro Film Festival. Taking place in Pesaro, Italy, the festival recognises the talents of established and emerging filmmakers, and confers awards covering a range of areas, including a category for university students.
