   The journalism department is hosting a free one-day conference on EDI in journalism education on Wednesday 26 June.

3. World Mental Health Day 2019

   World Mental Health Day on October the 10th is the annual global celebration of mental health education, awareness and advocacy. Throughout the week starting Monday 7th– Friday 11th October LJMU Student Advice and Wellbeing Services will be delivering a range of activities and raising awareness to celebrate good mental health and encourage us all to look at what we can do to maintain and promote positive wellbeing.

4. We are failing in a key cornerstone of democracy in the UK: justice

   We spoke to Dr Lizz Peatfield JP about the failings of the criminal justice system after the publication of her new book The Reality of Justice in England's lower courts

5. Health, safety and environmental management code of practice updates

   The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) has recently approved a new health and safety code of practice as well as amendments to a further 11 policies.

6. Presenting the past to the public

   Research at LJMU is working on ways of presenting the past and creating content for historic sites and museums across Ireland and the rest of the globe.

7. Russian press visit University as part of British Council event

   Russian journalists visited LJMU as part of a tour of UK education establishments, organised by the British Council.

8. Maritime SuperSkills Project

   Event to celebrate the successful completion of the project at the Maritime Museum, Royal Albert Dock on 13th June 2019. Attended by Iain McKinnon, Secretary Maritime Skills Alliance, local and national employers and LJMU staff who have helped with the project.

9. New service connecting LJMU’s student talent to Merseyside business gets underway

   As a major development towards LJMU’s goal of more readily matching student and graduate talent to the needs of Merseyside businesses, we have entered into an agreement with Unitemps to establish a specialist recruitment service for the region.

10. Professional Services Staff Governor Elections

    Five candidates have put themselves forwards for the position and voting will take place between Monday 13 and 27 March.
