1. Support this winter break and building opening times

   As semester one ends and we get ready for the winter break, please see LJMU’s opening times for buildings and support available over the coming weeks.

2. Improvement works at John Foster Building

   Next month (June 2022), we will begin a programme of improvement works to John Foster Building, which means it will be closed for a period over the summer.

3. LJMU appoints new Finance Director

   Rob Molloy has been appointed as the university’s new Finance Director.

4. Staff car parking update August 2023

   The university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2024.

5. Psychology student Charlotte and her Discovery Internship experience

   Discovery Internships are open for applications now until 4 December for second and final year students. Psychology student Charlotte Ilderton explains why she applied to complete an internship alongside her studies at LJMU and how you can too.

6. Open Research Week 2022

   Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Liverpool and Edge Hill University libraries are delighted to announce our programme for Open Research Week 2022, taking place from 14th-17th February 2022. There are 8 events over 4 days. All will take place over Microsoft Teams and each session can be booked individually. All events will be recorded; if you are unable to attend but are interested in the content, please sign up and the recording will be sent out to you in due course.

   The Student Lifestyle and Health Survey is your chance to help LJMU provide better support and services for your health and wellbeing here at LJMU.

8. Athena SWAN Workshop: Understanding Data & Top Tips

   In support of gender-equality and the several departments considering applying for their Athena SWAN Bronze/Silver Awards here at LJMU, this Athena SWAN Workshop: Understanding Data and Top Tips has been arranged in order to provide Departmental Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Teams (SATs) with the opportunity to gain some practical knowledge in relation to the application process.

9. Password protection: keeping it simple

   Keeping our digital data safe is serious. All students and staff should look after their data and privacy online. Strong passwords are an essential defence against unauthorised access to your online accounts. Creating a strong, long, complex password will reduce the potential for a cybercriminal to access your data.

10. How can staff enhance the student experience? ‘Make every contact count’

    More than 120 staff from across the university attended an engagement workshop on prioritising the student experience.
