1. Liverpool 5G Create project wins £4.3m funding from UK govt

   A project to deliver digital services to sick and elderly people in Liverpool has won £4.3million from the UK government.

2. Revealing 100-year global height study

   Dutch men and Latvian women are the tallest on the planet, according to the largest ever study of height around the world. The research group, which included LJMU’s Dr Lynne Boddy, conducted the study using data from most countries in the world, tracking the height of young adult men and women between 1914 and 2014.

3. Milky Way research earns Parliament invite

   Early-career researcher Hannah Dalgleish was invited to Parliament after making a new discovery about the Milky Way.

4. Staff dental plan

   An opt-in period is now open for a staff dental plan.

5. Educate North Awards 2017 nominations

   LJMU has been shortlisted for University of the Year plus several other categories in this year’s Educate North Awards.

6. Dental plan for LJMU staff

   LJMU staff can opt-in to a dental insurance plan.

7. New Subcontracting Policy approved

   The approved Subcontracting Policy sets out the requirement for subcontracting provision for degree apprenticeships delivered across the university.

8. LJMU relations with Nepal strengthened after researchers meet with President

   Researchers from LJMU have met with the President of Nepal, the Right honourable Bidhya Devi Bhandari, to discuss issues relating to education, gender, women's rights and social justice. Dr Sara Parker from Sociology, School of Humanities and Social Science and Rose Khatri from the Centre for Public Health recently met with the President and spoke for almost two hours.

9. LJMU partners with L8 community celebration

   On Saturday 25 June, staff and students from LJMU will join hundreds of people at Firefit Community Hub (115 Upper Warwick Street, L8 8HD) in Toxteth for a community fair and celebration of everyone and everything that makes L8 so unique.

10. Rt Hon Sir Vince Cable delivers Roscoe Lecture

    Rt Hon Sir Vince Cable will deliver one of LJMU’s popular Roscoe Lectures, entitled ‘Brexit and the North/South divide’ on Monday, 13 February.
