   The Secretariat is now seeking expressions of interest from eligible candidates to represent Professional Services as a Staff Governor member of the Board of Governors.

2. Start-up funding opportunity for new student businesses

   The LJMU Start-up Hub is excited to announce that the new Bathgate Boost award is now open! The £500 award is designed to support students who can demonstrate their business idea. Sitting alongside this funding is a package of support from the Start-up Hub team built around developing your start-up and skills as an entrepreneur. The award is open to all current LJMU students and new alumni who graduated from LJMU during 2023.

3. Over 500 staff and students attend Students at the Heart Conference 2023

   Covering everything from AI to alumni, 70 plus sessions were delivered by 200 staff and students across the two-day event.

4. LJMU to co-host British Science Festival 2025

   LJMU is to co-host the British Science Festival in the city in 2025.

5. LJMU Head of Journalism joins UK Government’s Media Literacy Taskforce

   Fran Yeoman, Head of Journalism in the Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies, has been appointed to the UK Governments Media Literacy Taskforce Steering Board.

6. Challenging Racism Collaborative Campaign (FREE Webinar Series)

   Liverpool John Moores University, University of Kent and City, University of London are collaborating in order to launch a series of cross-sector live webinars on race, racism and the importance of inclusive allyships.

7. Screen School student hailed at international film festival

   A Screen School student has won first prize at the 2019 Pesaro Film Festival. Taking place in Pesaro, Italy, the festival recognises the talents of established and emerging filmmakers, and confers awards covering a range of areas, including a category for university students.

   A LIFELINE for the worlds seas could lie at the bottom of a fishermans net, according to marine biologists.

   As induction week begins, PVC Professor Phil Vickerman is sharing updates from the Transition and Induction Group and asking staff to share feedback for next year.

10. In memorium: Gaynor Holmes

    The university is saddened to report the death of Gaynor Holmes who will be known to many staff for her long years of service in HR.
