  1. Project Harpocrates scholarship for police staff seeking a career in covert investigations and intelligence

    The police staff, drawn from Nottinghamshire Police, West Midlands Police and British Transport Police, secured the scholarship opportunity under an initiative known as Project Harpocrates. The project seeks to support law enforcement efforts to recruit and retain staff in the highly specialist area of covert operations and specialist intelligence.  Whilst the project was open to all officers one of the specific aims of the project is to increase the representation of  Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff (BAME)  in this challenging and exciting area of investigation and intelligence management.

  2. Exciting development opportunity for women to undertake action learning with peers from North West universities

    We are pleased to offer this development opportunity for up to 15 women working in academic and professional services roles to take part in cross institutional action learning sets with peers from universities in the North West region. Action learning provides a unique space for women to support each other to overcome work and career related challenges. This opportunity has been taken up previously by 150 women. Participant feedback includes: it was not role specific, so there were a range of individuals with different roles/skills/perspective which enriched my experience and It provided a rare opportunity to discuss issues confidentially outside of ones own workplace which helped me to develop more self-confidence and self-awareness.

  3. Let’s Talk About Disability Workshop (Virtual) - Tips For Supporting Staff/Students With Disabilities & Long-Term Health Conditions Including Mental Health

    This is an opportunity for LJMU/JMSU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors (those directly responsible for staff/students) to participate in a half day (three hour) virtual, Lets Talk About Disability Workshop in order to gain tips for supporting staff/students with disabilities & long-term health conditions including mental health.

  4. Developing the diverse workforce of the future for engineering & technology

    We are excited to invite you to join us for a flagship LJMU event, Developing the diverse workforce of the future for engineering and technology, jointly organised by the IEEE UK&I Women in Engineering affinity group whose chair is based at LJMU. We are delighted to welcome international representatives from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) to join in this important conversation, as part of their 140th year celebrations. The aim of this event is to bring together key stakeholders from the university, industry, government and accreditation bodies to start the conversation on this topic and consider next steps in our goal to work with stakeholders to lead the way for diversity and inclusion in engineering and technology skills in the North West. There is an exciting opportunity to meet and network with industry and academic leaders.

  5. MA Art in Science exhibition - 'Fading Footsteps'

    Visual art can be a powerful activist tool to combat biodiversity loss and foster greater emotional regard for non-human animals. This exhibition presents an auto-ethnographical account of a visit to Uganda. Personal meaning maps, paintings and films aim to stimulate awareness of endangered and vulnerable primate species and evoke increased empathy towards supporting conservation.
