1. Art and Design students travel the world

   The annual Susan Cotton and Sue Dunthorne Travel awards are open to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the school, designed to enhance students personal and career development through travel and impactful experiences. Successful applicants for the Susan Cotton Awards receive a budget of £1500 to spend on the trip of a life to their choice of destinations, while the Sue Dunthorne Travel Bursary is an award of £500 to travel anywhere in the UK or overseas.

2. International arts festival will launch the new Liverpool Fabric District

   An international festival of art, music and performance featuring world firsts will be taking place in May to celebrate the launch of the Fabric District in Liverpool.

3. Students learn traditional techniques to create sustainable fabrics and garments

   Throughout the academic year more than 120 undergraduate, MA and PhD students from a range of disciplines across the Liverpool School of Art and Design have learnt a variety of traditional skills from leatherwork to weaving.

4. July is Disability Pride Month

   July marks the celebration of Disability Pride month. An opportunity to raise awareness and have positive conversations about disability in study and the workplace.

5. Student Life and Sports Building win Best New Build Project award

   LJMU’s Copperas Hill development has won an award for the Best New Build Project at the Merseyside Civic Design Awards.

6. Feel Fab Feb finale mass guided meditation for all

   LJMU to broadcast the 15-minute session via Melodic Distraction on Mon 27 February from 8.30am

7. Staff and Students celebrate South Asian and East South-east Asian Heritage Month

   The Diversity and Inclusion event held at the Student Life Building this week ‘Cultivating Representation: If you can see it, you can be it’ was open to all staff and students to celebrate South Asian (SA) and East South-east Asian (ESEA) Heritage Month.

8. Rapidly changing climate poses high risk for legacy waste pollution on UK coast

   New research co-authored by hydrologists at LJMU has found that more than 3,000 coastal locations in England and Wales are at risk of pollution from legacy landfill sites due to the changing climate.

9. Come and cheer on Team LJMU at the 2024 Lord Mayor's Dragon Boat Race

   LJMU are the main sponsor of this years’ event and three staff teams will compete on Sunday 12 May.
