1. Grad Fest 2019 – event for final year students on 3 April

   Grad Fest 2019 is a new event for final year students at LJMU, taking place on 3 April from 2pm-7pm at the John Lennon Art and Design Building.

2. Free winter flu jabs for staff

   As part of our commitment to employee wellbeing, we are again offering staff vouchers for a free winter flu jab.

3. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

5. Support for Young Adult Carers

   On national Young Carers Awareness Day, LJMU announced an official package of specialised support to ensure young carers are able to benefit from the advantages a university education can provide.

6. Artificial Intelligence to give new access to 500-year-old manuscripts

   Ground-breaking computational methods will be used by a team of researchers to advance the access of historical collections and study the history of Early Colonial Mexico.

7. In memoriam: Aldham Robarts

   The LJMU community is deeply saddened by the death of Aldham Robarts, an Honorary Fellow, trustee and passionate supporter of the university.

8. LJMU signs up to the University Mental Health Charter

   Over 60 universities across the country have signed up to be part of the Student Minds’ University Mental Health Charter Framework to support universities across the UK in making mental health a university-wide priority.

9. Staff networks explored, explained and celebrated

   Staff recently came together to celebrate the power of staff networks in the workplace and to mark the launch of the Admin and PA Staff Network.

10. New and updated diversity and inclusion policies

    The Employment Committee has recently approved a new diversity and inclusion policy and guidance document, as well as amendments to an existing policy.
