1. Staff car parking update August 2023

   The university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2024.

2. Call for submissions: Teaching and Learning Conference 2020

   This year's conference will take place on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 June and submissions are now invited from staff and students and collaborative partner institutions, as well as other colleagues working in post-16 education.

3. LJMU receives Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and National Teaching Fellowship

   LJMU is one of 15 teams to win the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and an LJMU academic has also been awarded one of 54 National Teaching Fellows (NTF). Dr Philip Denton, Principal Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, is the recipient of the NTF and the paramedic team at LJMU’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health received the CATE.

4. Prestigious Bollywood Director hosts Liverpool film screening with LJMU

   Bollywood Director, Ms Kiran Rao hosted a special screening of recent hit move Laapataa Ladies (2024) in Liverpool with LJMU.

5. Liverpool School of Art and Design will host its first art-science showcase after being awarded prestigious Leonardo LASER status

   The first LASER session will focus on the theme of faces and identity with presentations on facial skin growth, forensic art and cosmetic surgery.

6. Building maintenance update

   We have entered a new partnership with an award-winning contractor to maintain your facilities across the university.

7. New 'low carbon' cement idea wins international engineering prize

   Civil engineers who developed a new type of cement which creates 80% fewer carbon emissions have won a prestigious international prize.

8. Lecturer's theatre show opens

   A production by an LJMU lecturer, based on the lived experiences of children who have a parent in prison, opens in theatres this month.

9. Prestigious position in development and evolution of built environment education

   Professor Mike Riley, Head of Department for Built Environment at LJMU, has been elected as Chair of the Council of Heads of Built Environment (CHOBE).
