1. New EDI Workshops Announced – Domestic Abuse Awareness & ‘Actions Speak Louder’ Allyship Training 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with a number of subject specialists, to deliver a range of interactive (online) staff development training opportunities, including the introduction of two brand new courses; a 2 hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop and a 90min 'Actions Speak Louder' Experiential Allyship (Race) training session, as well as the return of LJMU's 3 hour Transgender Awareness Workshop (back by popular demand).

2. Another ‘first’ for LJMU in Sport and Exercise Sciences

   Professor Zoe Knowles is set to become the first woman to chair the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).

3. Great apes predicted to lose 90% of African homelands, study finds

   A triple-whammy of climate change, land-use change and human population growth is set to decimate the habitats of Africas great apes gorillas, chimpanzees and bonobos over the coming 30 years.

4. First-of-its-kind Jamaican art exhibition opening in Liverpool

   The first exhibition of wholly Jamaican art to be displayed in North-West England will find its home in Liverpool this spring. The exhibition has been curated by Dr Emma Roberts, Associate Dean for Global Engagement for the Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies at LJMU.

5. New ES1 form available for managers

   The Finance team has recently updated the ES1 form used to assess contractors against HMRCs off-payroll working rules (sometimes called IR35).

   Biological and Environmental Sciences has become the fifth LJMU school to have received the Athena SWAN Bronze Award.
