1. Senior Lecturer wins Royal College of Nursing Award

   Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing, Ebenezer Banahene, has won the North West award for Outstanding Contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion from the Royal College of Nursing.

2. In memoriam: Professor John Somauroo

   It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Professor John Somauroo.

3. Start-up funding opportunity for new student businesses

   The LJMU Start-up Hub is excited to announce that the new Bathgate Boost award is now open! The £500 award is designed to support students who can demonstrate their business idea. Sitting alongside this funding is a package of support from the Start-up Hub team built around developing your start-up and skills as an entrepreneur. The award is open to all current LJMU students and new alumni who graduated from LJMU during 2023.

4. Volunteer for Claire House

   Our corporate charity Claire House is looking for volunteers on Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March at the welcoming of HMS Prince of Wales on the Liverpool Waterfront.

5. Academic Registry results notification briefings

   Two Microsoft Teams sessions will take place later this month to assist LJMU administrative staff involved with the pre and post board of examiner process, including results notification.

6. Colleagues proudly support Liverpool Against Racism events

   LJMU staff members proudly supported sessions at the Liverpool Against Racism Conference this week, a day of conversation around systematic racism in society and a debate on what meaningful change really looks like.

7. John Bishop presents local sixth-formers with Good Citizenship Award

   St George's Hall was packed out for the latest Roscoe Lecture presented by renowned comedian John Bishop.

8. Sexual Violence Awareness Week

   Throughout Sexual Violence Awareness Week (Monday 4th – Sunday 10th February), a new team of staff from Student Advice and Wellbeing Services were out and about across the University to talk to students and staff about the impact sexual violence and harassment has on individuals and communities
