   Professor Stefano Mariani of Liverpool John Moores University leads study of forensic tools to identify illegal trade in marine species

4. Chief Constable of Merseyside Police joins LJMU

   Sir Jon Murphy, the Chief Constable of Merseyside Police, who retires this month after a career of more than 40 years as a serving police officer, is to join LJMU’s Centre for Advanced Policing Studies as Professor of Advanced Policing Studies.

5. Health and Safety policy updates

   A number of Health and Safety policies have been amended and approved by the Health and Safety Committee.

6. New Forensic Research Institute launched

   LJMU has launched a new Forensic Research Institute (FORRI) to support and enhance the criminal justice system.

   A number of LJMU staff policies have been updated.

8. LJMU marks World Menopause Day 2023

   In recognition of World Menopause Day 2023 our staff came together for the fourth Menopause Café of the year and to talk about how we can all play a role in supporting and understanding colleagues going through the menopause.

9. New Export Controls and Sanctions Policy

   A new Export Controls and Sanctions Policy, in relation to research and knowledge exchange activity, has been approved and added to the LJMU Policy Centre.

    Two of our health and safety codes of practice and have updated and can be accessed on the Policy Centre.
