6. LJMU to support 80th anniversary commemorations of the Battle of the Atlantic

   Eighty years on from victory in the Atlantic, LJMU is set to commemorate Liverpool’s contributions to the Battle of the Atlantic, as well as its enduring maritime ties as the university itself marks a significant anniversary.

7. LJMU receives Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence and National Teaching Fellowship

   LJMU is one of 15 teams to win the Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) and an LJMU academic has also been awarded one of 54 National Teaching Fellows (NTF). Dr Philip Denton, Principal Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences, is the recipient of the NTF and the paramedic team at LJMU’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health received the CATE.

8. LJMU pioneers nursing 'transition' course for refugees

   NURSES from overseas are being recruited to join the NHS workforce under a scheme piloted in Liverpool.

   Two new policies will support teaching staff in their development through peer exchange and direct observation.
