   Six LJMU Honorary Fellows have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list 2017.

   We have a new team in place to help support any member of staff with their mental wellbeing. The LJMU Connectors are on hand to provide peer support and make sure colleagues have access to the appropriate resources and services.

   A successful bid by a national research group led by LJMU looks to better strengthen the use outdoor natural environments as a mental health asset over the coming decade.

4. Computer scientists trial rapid information system at Merseyrail stations

   Merseyrail staff will be the first in the country to have delay updates in the palm of their hand.

5. LJMU announced as Principal Sponsor of LightNight

   LJMU is this year’s Principal Sponsor of LightNight, Liverpool’s one-night arts and culture festival, which last year attracted over 50,000 visitors.

6. Elvis and The Beatles

   As BBC2 marked the 50th anniversary of a momentous meeting between Elvis Presley and The Beatles, LJMU lecturer Jeff Young penned a drama for the occasion inspired by the secret meeting that took place in Elvis’s Bel Air mansion in 1965.

7. Mersey Maritime welcomes LJMU as 'valued' member

   Mersey Maritime is widely recognised as the UK’s leading maritime cluster organisation bringing together industry, government, national trade bodies and academia to champion, grow and protect the UK maritime industry particularly in the North-West.

8. International student partnership with China celebrated at Lunar New Year gathering

   Thirteen dual-award engineering students from China met with LJMU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mark Power, in recognition of their successful studies and in celebration of the beginning of Lunar New Year.
