1. Health, safety and environmental management code of practice updates

   The Executive Leadership Team (ELT) has recently approved a new health and safety code of practice as well as amendments to a further 11 policies.

2. Latest Roscoe celebrates 'Littlewoods Legacy'

   200 individuals from across the Liverpool City Region attended the latest Roscoe Lecture at the Museum of Liverpool to hear about the legacy of Littlewoods.

3. First Step Spring Internships available for Level 4 students

   A new pilot internship programme for first year students (level 4 only) with little to no previous work experience launched on Monday 15 January and close at midnight on Sunday 4 February. There will be no interview process for these opportunities, the Student Futures team will undertake a matching process between participating organisations and students. The internships will begin on Monday 4 March (start dates may vary for each role).

   The People Plan 2030 outlines six strategic themes to create engaged staff, central to LJMU’s success.

5. Start-up funding opportunity for new student businesses

   The LJMU Start-up Hub is excited to announce that the new Bathgate Boost award is now open! The £500 award is designed to support students who can demonstrate their business idea. Sitting alongside this funding is a package of support from the Start-up Hub team built around developing your start-up and skills as an entrepreneur. The award is open to all current LJMU students and new alumni who graduated from LJMU during 2023.

   Two School of Law students are celebrating their success after securing the prestigious Anthony Walker Bursary Scheme.

   Keeping our digital data safe is serious. All students and staff should look after their data and privacy online. Strong passwords are an essential defence against unauthorised access to your online accounts. Creating a strong, long, complex password will reduce the potential for a cybercriminal to access your data.

9. Eight students compete in Archon University Fitness League

   Eight LJMU students took part in an Archon Fittest Universities Event in Birmingham earlier this month, with student Jordan McCarthy placing first across the leaderboard in the STRONG category.

10. Applications for Discovery Internships for level 5 and 6 students now open

    The final round of paid Discovery Internships for this academic year, which are all sustainability themed, are open for applications now from second and final year (level 5 and 6) students.
