1. New website course search function

   This week marks the launch of an exciting new development to our website. A project group have been working with an external agency (Sagittarius) to improve the course search function.

2. Introducing eco-friendly search engine Ecosia

   In support of JMSUs Sustainability Week taking place from next Monday, 3 February, the university will be trialling a new eco-friendly default internet search engine.

3. Student's 'one-in-a-million' job offer

   A LJMU student was astounded after a private message to marketing guru Steven Bartlett landed him a job within 10 minutes.

4. Research Data Repository has a fresh new look and search functions

   You can now search by year, division, field of research, author, data type and funder.

5. Another successful year for the online summer course “Sustainability and Employability”

   Over 60 students successfully completed the online summer course Sustainability and Employability: Understanding Sustainability Issues and Getting Ready for the Job Market.

6. Study for Success courses

   Academic colleagues are encouraged to highlight this year’s Study for Success Canvas course to students.

7. Join demonstrations of new LJMU Research Data Repository features

   Sessions take place in Feb and March to showcase the new landing page and advanced search functionality.

8. Gravitational wave science used to search for catastrophic explosion

   Researchers at the Astrophysics Research Institute were among the first to use new gravitational wave science, ahead of the recent announcement by the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) that they had made the first direct detection of gravitational waves.

9. Training materials now available on Canvas for CourseLoop

   The CourseLoop Canvas resource has short video guides on how to get started in addition to information if you require additional help and support.

10. Criminology students visit Slovenia for international crime and harm reduction discussions

    Students and staff from the Criminology Department, School of Justice Studies recently spent a week in Ljubljana, Slovenia to discuss crime and harm reduction with a range of governmental and non-governmental organisations.
