5. Schoolgirl researchers visit world-class sport science labs

   The year 9 pupils from Liverpool's Holly Lodge Girls College spent two days working alongside world-class scientists in physiology, biomechanics and sport and exercise psychology, as well as current LJMU students, to gain expert insight into sport science research methodology.

6. School of Humanities and Social Sciences create Craft Club for student wellbeing

   The department of Media, Culture, Communication in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences has established a new initiative to create space for students to socialise and support their wellbeing.

7. Marine engineering academic wins prestigious research prize

   The Director of the Liverpool Logistics Offshore and Marine Research Institute at Liverpool John Moores University - Prof. Jin Wang - has been awarded the prestigious 2018 IMechE Award for Risk Reduction in Mechanical Engineering.

8. Dinosaur footprint expert to feature in Channel 5 series fronted by Stephen Fry

   Dinosaurs with Stephen Fry, airing from Sunday 12 February on Channel 5, will feature expert analysis from LJMU’s Dr Peter Falkingham. He will explain how birds are modern descendants of dinosaurs by looking at the motion of ostriches compared to the T. rex.
