   A Degree Apprenticeship is an exciting new route into work-based learning that enables apprentices to achieve a full degree while developing practical skills in the workplace.

3. Pandemics and public health: have we found our new normal? - Conan Leavey and Graeme Mitchell, Public Health Institute, LJMU

   It was only a relatively short time ago - in March this year - that the World Health Organisation declared Covid-19 a pandemic. We know now that it is likely to be many, many months before the UK pronounces its outbreak over; and certainly years before it is over globally.

4. New human evolution gallery at the World Museum Liverpool opened with a bang!

   Discover the intertwined history of our species. A new free gallery officially opened at the World Museum Liverpool on 6th September 2019. The opening was marked by a family event: Human Evolution Festival, but the gallery is now open to the public and an activity trail will be available soon. Where do we come from? What makes us human? These fundamental mysteries have shaped the study of human origins for centuries. Trace our species’ evolution from the first upright primate through to modern humans.

5. International Women's Day

   International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th every year; it is a focal point in the movement for women’s rights.

6. Applications invited for PhD scholarships

   LJMU is inviting applications for fully-funded PhD scholarships and our Thematic Doctoral Pathways programme.

7. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

8. What the pandemic taught me - LJMU Together

   This feature encourages colleagues to share what they've learned as we all reflect on the pandemic and what we've been through.

9. Sir Brian officially opens Student Life Building

   Our Chancellor, Sir Brian Leveson, has unveiled a plaque to officially open our fantastic Student Life Building.

    Student Advice and Wellbeing and the International team want to make staff aware in particular of an update to the Safeguarding Policy regarding under-18 international students with LJMU and collaborative partners.
