   Researchers have developed a new approach to machine learning that mimics humans ability to learn how to learn.

   The celebrating cultures event this year had India, China, Canada, Pakistan, Colombia, Nepal, England, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lesotho, Scotland, Vietnam, Nigeria, Indonesia, Greece, Italy, Bangladesh, Switzerland, Iran, Somalia and Brazil being represented.    This week marks the launch of an exciting new development to our website. A project group have been working with an external agency (Sagittarius) to improve the course search function.

   It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Honorary Fellow, Dr Larry DeNardis, the former US Congressman.

6. Confidential Waste Policy update

   The updated policy includes further information on disposing of small amounts of confidential waste in confidential waste bins across the university and on how you can order secure bags for larger quantities.

   The university is saddened to learn of the death of our honorary fellow, Frank Field.

8. Work culture key to success of digital roll outs

   Research by the Institute of Capital Culture, a collaboration between LJMU and the University of Liverpool, has found that creating a positive digital culture at work and encouraging worker confidence in digital tools are the most important factors in ensuring digital roll-outs are successful.

   Millions of consumers could end up giving shopping-with-Alexa a miss unless  retailers improve the buying experience, according to new research published this week by Liverpool Business School.

10. New study suggests explanations for usage of plesiosaurs’ long necks

    Plesiosaurs are an extinct group of marine reptiles from the age of dinosaurs who are famous for their long necks. The effect of such long necks on how these animals swam is a mystery but now computer simulations are helping LJMU scientists understand what would happen if a plesiosaur turned its head while swimming.
