   We now have dedicated information on our student support webpages, for transgender and non-binary students, to find out how to get help and support while at university, as well as requesting a name change via LJMU.

2. Support over the spring break and what to do in Liverpool

   For most of our students following the standard academic calendar, the spring break runs from 9 to 24 April. Whether you are heading home or staying around Liverpool, here is some advice on where to go, what to do if you need help and support and those all important Library opening times.

   If you are an undergraduate student and are continuing on your course in September 2019, don’t forget to reapply for your student finance as soon as possible.

4. New report shines a light on financial struggles of coastal fishers

   Thousands employed in the fishing industry face debt and financial hardship, according to findings from the Research Unit for Financial Inclusion at Liverpool John Moores University.

5. Applications open for Research England Policy Support Fund

   LJMU is being allocated funding from the Research England Policy Support Fund (PSF) to support the development of impactful research and engagement activities. Applications of up to £10,000 will be considered and applicants have until 5pm on Monday 10 October 2022 to make a submission.

7. Cost of living: non repayable payments for students

   We’re reminding you of all the support available across the university from non-repayable payments, to help with your energy bills, to discounts and freebies across the university.

8. Empowering staff to support PGRs from racially minoritised groups

   Academic and professional services staff who support PGRs have a bespoke training and development opportunity designed by the educational charity Grit Breakthrough. Using a coaching approach to support PGRs is a two-day online coaching workshop, which will run across two days in November.

10. Career Tips: How to make the most out of the Final Year Support and Jobs Fair

    The Final Year Support and Jobs Fair takes place on Wednesday 21 February from 11am to 2pm at the Student Life Building and is aimed at final year students who want to get a head start on graduation and take care of their next steps. These are our tips on how to make the most of the fair.
