1. Improvement works at John Foster Building

   Next month (June 2022), we will begin a programme of improvement works to John Foster Building, which means it will be closed for a period over the summer.

2. Launch of Liverpool Centre for Olympic Research on Inclusion

   LJMU has launched the first worldwide Liverpool Centre for Olympic Research focussing on Inclusion ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

3. Getting to grips with technology in media

   Pupils from Sacred Heart College, Crosby joined the Media Technology Group of the Dept. of Electronics & Electrical Engineering to learn technical processes for creating TV programmes.

4. Academic Board election voting now open

   Staff have until 5pm on Thursday 14 September to vote for their preferred Academic Board candidates.

5. Could fishermen hold the key to conservation of ocean species?

   A LIFELINE for the worlds seas could lie at the bottom of a fishermans net, according to marine biologists.

6. Tate Liverpool and LJMU host major Keith Haring conference

   On Thursday 7th and Friday 8th November Tate Liverpool is hosting a two-day conference in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University, on the occasion of the Keith Haring exhibition. Conveners: Dr Michael Birchall and Dr Emma Vickers.

7. Dinosaur footprint expert to feature in Channel 5 series fronted by Stephen Fry

   Dinosaurs with Stephen Fry, airing from Sunday 12 February on Channel 5, will feature expert analysis from LJMU’s Dr Peter Falkingham. He will explain how birds are modern descendants of dinosaurs by looking at the motion of ostriches compared to the T. rex.

8. byrom street, estate development

   The university is making good progress on a series of major projects to enhance student and staff facilities at Byrom Street.

9. Staff Governor vacancy

   The Secretariat is now seeking expressions of interest from eligible candidates to represent Professional Services as a Staff Governor member of the Board of Governors.

10. Ambassador Fellow, Phil Redmond, receives Freedom of Liverpool

    LJMU Ambassador Fellow, Professor Phil Redmond CBE, will today (Friday, 2 November) be awarded the Freedom of Liverpool – the city’s highest civic honour.
