3. Maritime SuperSkills Project

   Event to celebrate the successful completion of the project at the Maritime Museum, Royal Albert Dock on 13th June 2019. Attended by Iain McKinnon, Secretary Maritime Skills Alliance, local and national employers and LJMU staff who have helped with the project.

4. Nursing wins UK Student Satisfaction award

   Nursing students at LJMU are officially the most satisfied in the country as voted for by our own students!

5. New EDI Workshops Announced – Domestic Abuse Awareness & ‘Actions Speak Louder’ Allyship Training 

   LJMU's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team are proud to be working in partnership with a number of subject specialists, to deliver a range of interactive (online) staff development training opportunities, including the introduction of two brand new courses; a 2 hour Domestic Abuse Awareness Workshop and a 90min 'Actions Speak Louder' Experiential Allyship (Race) training session, as well as the return of LJMU's 3 hour Transgender Awareness Workshop (back by popular demand).

6. LJMU PHD student Valeria Carini recognised at Pandemic Institute’s first Student Excellence Awards

   Valeria was presented the award alongside students from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine with grants for scientific research, aimed to enhance preparedness for future pandemics.

7. Climate Emergency: Active Travel Plan to incentivise cycling and walking

   Incentives for staff and students to travel sustainably are being put on the table to back the university's newly-approved Active and Sustainable Travel Plan.

8. New human evolution gallery at the World Museum Liverpool opened with a bang!

   Discover the intertwined history of our species. A new free gallery officially opened at the World Museum Liverpool on 6th September 2019. The opening was marked by a family event: Human Evolution Festival, but the gallery is now open to the public and an activity trail will be available soon. Where do we come from? What makes us human? These fundamental mysteries have shaped the study of human origins for centuries. Trace our species’ evolution from the first upright primate through to modern humans.

9. Aspiring Leaders from BAME Communities Informal Networking Event

   On Thursday 14th November 2019  (12.30pm  – 3.30pm), Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) will host a BAME into Leadership network event in partnership with BME Leadership Network (BLN) and Parrett Laver a recruitment company that assist HEIs with recruiting top level positions.

10. Anthropologists play down links between modern humans and Denisovans

    An anthropologist at Liverpool John Moores University and other researchers have played down links between modern Asian physiology and a recently discovered early human species, Denisova hominins.
