Children's reading corner

The Children's Reading Corner is a friendly space for education students, early years practitioners and the wider community.

Located in Aldham Robarts Library the space has been designed to support initial teacher trainees, early years practitioners and education students at LJMU studying within the School of Education. Students can use the space to familiarise themselves with the environment and the materials they may be using on placement, and they can also develop their knowledge and understanding of children’s literature.

The collection includes early years picture books, children’s classics, and teenage fiction. It also has different themes which schools may be focusing on, such as animals and the environment.

The Children’s Reading Corner will be open to local teachers and school children to further strengthen our links within the local community, and of course it is also available for use by all LJMU students and staff.

To celebrate its opening in 2022, LJMU Library held a launch event with Academics from the LJMU School of Education, LJMU Student Reading Ambassadors, and invited local primary school children along too.
