1. Disability History Month at LJMU

   Disability History Month begins today (16 November – 16 December) and our Disabled Staff Network, EDI team and JMSU will be hosting an event on Friday 2 December.

   Liverpool John Moores University, University of Kent and City, University of London are collaborating in order to launch a series of cross-sector live webinars on race, racism and the importance of inclusive allyships.

3. The power of Staff Networks. Join and work with us to shape university policy

   Our staff networks have been integral in progressing certain policies for LJMU staff, including on maternity leave and menopause.

4. Celebrating Cultures Event 2022

   All staff and students are invited to LJMU's Celebrating Cultures Event on Wednesday 15 June as part of the Students at the Heart Conference.

5. How to continue celebrating Black history beyond October

   LJMU School of Education Lecturer, Adam Vasco, is giving his thoughts on five ways to celebrate and commemorate Black history beyond October.

6. Senior Lecturer wins Royal College of Nursing Award

   Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing, Ebenezer Banahene, has won the North West award for Outstanding Contribution to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion from the Royal College of Nursing.

7. Reciprocal Mentoring Programme involving BAME Staff, Black Students and Senior Leaders

   Given the success of last year's pilot, we are running the LJMU Reciprocal Mentoring Programme again and we are extending it to include BAME staff from across the institution. The programme is open to all LJMU Senior Staff from Director Level of non BAME Background and to BAME staff from non-Director Level and to Black Students from all Faculties.

8. New templates for the nomination of external examiners

   Now incorporating a dedicated template to nominate external examiners from industry or practice.

9. UKRI open access monograph funding changes

   A reminder that UKRI has recently announced their guidance and requirements with regards to publishing open access monographs, which come into place from 1 January 2024.
