  1. Password protection: keeping it simple

Keeping our digital data safe is serious. All students and staff should look after their data and privacy online. Strong passwords are an essential defence against unauthorised access to your online accounts. Creating a strong, long, complex password will reduce the potential for a cybercriminal to access your data.

  2. Staff Sharepoint migration

IT Services has started the process of migrating all of our on-premise SharePoint and shared drives (JT2) to either Microsoft Teams or SharePoint Online.

  3. Restrictions on using USBs

From Monday 4 September, students will no longer be able to use USB storage devices on LJMU computers, laptops and other IT equipment.

  4. Help for students

From IT support and Student Advice and Wellbeing, to who to call if you need security on campus, we’ve got you covered.

  5. LJMU is offering students access to IT services off campus like never before

Do you prefer to study out of hours? Is there a pressing lab report that you need access to? No problem! LJMU is providing students with 24/7 access to IT services off campus. That means you can access Office 365 from your own device and download other software onto your own laptop/computer as well as accessing lab computers.

  6. Email account improvements

IT Services will soon be migrating staff email accounts to provide us with greater security, increased storage limits and easier accessibility.
