SDG 16 - Peace, justice and strong institutions
Institutions should be effective, accountable and inclusive at all levels. However, conflict and violence throughout the world can threaten this. Governments and communities must work together to find solutions to manage conflict and insecurity.
LJMU is committed to creating peaceful and inclusive societies. On campus, we support Armed Forces Day and we’re recognised under the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme. Locally, we’ve partnered with the Merseyside Police, raising the standard of policing in Merseyside. Nationally, LJMU AI researchers helped to solve a murder case using a deep learning method originally developed for eco-conservation.
